Search Everything from One Bar (Global Search)

Overview

The Search anything bar at the top of every admin page finds records across your store from one place. Search by record number, customer name, email or company.

Open search

Click Search anything at the top of the page, or press Ctrl + K (Cmd + K on Mac) or / from any admin page.

The search bar is hidden on Design Center pages, but the keyboard shortcut still opens it there. To shrink the bar to a small tab, click minimize. Zoey remembers your choice.

What you can search

Drafts
Orders
Quotes
Invoices
Shipments
Credit memos
Transactions
Accounts
Contacts

Untick record types you don't need, and only the ticked types are searched, which is faster. Your choice is remembered in this browser. Hold Alt (Option on Mac) and click a type to search only that type. Click All to tick every type again.

How results are found

An exact record number, such as an order or invoice number, searches all of your records, so older records are found by number.

Names, emails and company names are matched the same way as each grid's Fast Search, which looks at the newest 100,000 records of each type. To find an older record by name, use that record's grid with Fast Search turned off.

Records you've opened from search appear under Recently opened. This list is kept per admin user, so people sharing a computer don't see each other's records.

Search follows your permissions
You only see record types your role can open, and only the records you're already allowed to view in each grid. Customer group, assigned account and sales rep restrictions apply.
