Manage Attributes (Product > Attributes)

Overview

Manage all of your Custom Attributes or create new ones in Products > Attriubtes

Once an attribute is created and saved, you can not change the attribute type.

Settings

Within Custom Attributes you have the ability to manage the following settings:

Is Required

This setting allows the Attribute to be required when creating a product in the Admin or via CSV. In the product edit screen, the required attribute will automatically appear in the Custom Attribute Section (see below).

Use In Compare

This setting allows the attribute to be displayed in the "Compare Products" window.

Use in Category Filters

If the values (or Options) for this Attribute are important for helping your customers filter products on your Category Page, you can turn this setting on. Filters will only appear on Categories that have products tagged with this Custom Attribute

This setting will only appear for Drop Down and Multi-Select Custom Attributes

Set a Sort Position for Filters - Want Size to be above Color? Set a sort position for each Custom Attribute to determine the order in which they show in your filters.

Show Product Count For This Filter

The number of products tagged with this Custom Attribute per Category will be displayed.

Use in Search Result Filters

This setting will enable the attribute to be used as a filter for Search Results.

Can Be Used for Building Promotions > Discount Rules and Sales

Want to have a Sale on all Large, Blue products? Turn this setting on for the Color and Size Custom Attributes to be used for building Discount Rules and Sales.

Allow Customers to Sort Products by this Attribute

If the values (or Options) for this Attribute are important for helping your customers sort products on your Category Page, you can turn this setting on.

Enable Attribute to be used in Configurable Product Custom Attributes

This setting must be enabled when using this attribute to link Variations to Configurable products.

This setting will only appear for Drop-Down Type Custom Attributes

Use for Search in the Products Grid

This setting allows the attribute to be used in the Admin Product Search on the Product List Page.

Use for Order Item Display Sorting

This setting allows the attribute to be used in Order Settings >Order Item Display Sorting.

Allow Staff Account Restrictions

This setting allows this attribute to be restricted to specific Staff Accounts. Visit the Account Manager to restrict attributes to Staff Accounts.

Split Orders by This Attribute's Values

This setting allows this attribute to split a customer's cart into multiple orders based on the attribute values

Visibility

Visible to Only Specified Customer Groups

This setting allows the attribute to be restricted to, and visible only to specified Customer Groups.

Visible on Product Page

This setting will add this Custom Attribute to the Attributes block that can be added to your product page in the Visual Design Editor.

Show On Mobile

When selected, this Attribute will appear on the Mobile App Product Page and can be used in the Mobile App Search. In the Mobile App > Home Screen >Settings Page, enable the Attribute in Products List Settings.

Visible on Cart

This setting allows the attribute to be visible below the product in the Mini-Cart and Shopping Cart

Show on Admin Draft, Order, Quote Items List

This setting enables this attribute to be selected as a column in the Admin Draft, Order and Quote lists.

Show on Cart, Checkout, PDF, and Customer My Account: View Order

This setting enables this attribute to be visible to your customers on the Cart Page, at Checkout and printed on the Order PDF.

Show In Emails

This setting allows the attribute to be visible below the product on Sales Emails. You can use this setting to provide some information about the product to the customer only after it has been purchased (such as a download link).

Show On Search Results Page

This setting allows the attribute to be visible below the product on the Search Result Page.

Show On Search Results Preview

This setting allows the attribute to be visible below the product in the Search Results Preview that appears while typing into the search bar on your store frontend.

Show on Export Full Order Data CSV / API / Webhooks

This setting will add the product attribute as a column on the Order Export accessible using Bulk Actions on the Order List Page and in API / Webhooks.

Attribute Options

Options will only appear for Drop Down and Multi-Select Custom Attributes

Options allow you to manage the available values for Drop Down and Multi-Select Attributes. Options can be added both in Products > Attributes, or simply by entering new values in the Custom Attribute section of any Product. Learn more about adding Custom Attributes to Products

Options must exist on the Attribute before CSV Import

If you are going to set attribute option values on products via CSV import, the Options values must first be added to the Attribute in the Admin.

Sort Order Of Attribute Options

You can change the order of your attribute options, which will also determine the order of the variables in the dropdown menu on product pages.

Go to Products > Attributes and open the attribute you want to edit, for example "Color".
To the left of each attribute option you will see numbers, which is the Position corresponding to the position of swatches or the dropdown menu on product pages for configurable products.

Click on the number next to the option name to open this window:

Change the number according to the position you want to give it in the dropdown menu or swatches.
Click Update Position and save the changes.

Sort Attribute Options Alphabetically

To sort your attribute options alphabetically without the need to enter a sort order number, you can click on the gear icon next to each option. From the drop down menu select Sort ALL Alphabetically:

You can also move the option to the bottom or the top of the list.
