How to Reserve Product Inventory in Zoey

Use Zoey’s inventory reserve quantity settings to keep a portion of a product’s stock unavailable for regular storefront purchases.

Set an Inventory Reserve Quantity

From the Zoey Admin, go to Products > Settings > Inventory.
Find Qty for Item's Status to Become Out of Stock.
Enter the quantity you want to reserve.
Set Allow Above Quantity to be Purchased based on whether customers should be able to order into the reserved inventory.
Save the configuration.

For example, if a product has 10 units in stock and the out-of-stock quantity is set to 2, the storefront will show 8 units available for purchase.

Control Purchases Into Reserved Inventory

Purchasing into the reserve quantity is treated as backordering. The product’s Backorders setting determines whether the purchase is allowed and whether the customer sees a backorder notification:

No Backorders: Customers cannot order into the reserve quantity.
Allow Qty Below 0: Customers can place the order without a backorder message.
Allow Qty Below 0 and Notify Customer: Customers can place the order and are notified that the quantity is backordered.

To allow purchases that reduce the product’s total inventory below zero, backorders must be enabled.

Qty for Item's Status to Become Out of Stock	0 (by default)	By default, when the quantity of a product becomes zero, its stock availability automatically changes to Out of Stock. This setting controls the quantity reserved from storefront purchases. This amount is excluded from the available inventory displayed to customers. For example, if the product has 10 units in stock and this setting is 2, customers see 8 units available.
Allow Above Quantity to be Purchased	Yes/ No	This setting will allow the threshold/reserve amount specified for "Qty for Item's Status to Become Out of Stock" to be sold as part of an order despite being considered a reserve quantity. Ordering more than the available quantity is treated as a backorder. The product’s backorder settings determine whether the purchases into out-of-stock is allowed, and whether a backorder message is shown to the customer.
