Braintree is a payment method provided by PayPal. Our Zoey <> Braintree integration enables you to accept payment from your customers through a variety of methods supported by Braintree.
Braintree includes:
- PayPal Express Checkout
- Credit Card
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay

Braintree Set-up
Configure the following sections of the Braintree integration:
- General Settings
- PayPal
- Credit Card
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
General Settings
These settings control your connection to Braintree. Choose the Environment to connect to and enter the credentials.
- Environment:
Do not use 'Sandbox' on a production environment! The API details you enter below will need to reflect your Sandbox or your Production account. - Merchant ID
- Merchant Account ID
- Public Key
- Private Key
If your store accepts multiple currencies then Currency switcher enabled must be set to Yes!
If you're using the Zoey built in currency switcher you'll need to activate this section to ensure the customers payment goes into your correct merchant account. If you use store views for separate countries you do not need this feature enabled.Note: The invoices will still show up as your base currency, but the customer will be charged in their selected currency for the correct amount.
Braintree Payments - PayPal
These settings enable your store to accept payment through PayPal. Here we explain some of the Braintree - PayPal settings.

Express Checkout
- Enable Express Checkout - PayPal Express functionality allows customers to checkout directly with PayPal instead of using the default checkout.
- Enable on Cart - Allow customers to complete their order via PayPal express, this will complete the entire quote.
- Enable on Product Page - Allow customers to complete their order via PayPal express, this will complete the entire quote.
PayPal Customers
- Link Guest Orders to Customers
When set to Yes, orders placed by Guests will be linked to a customer in PayPal.
Payment Actions
- Payment Action
Authorize - Will only auth the payment and store a token, the transaction will not be settled. Authorize & Capture - Instantly settle the transaction within the checkout. - Complete Order Status
Choose the Zoey Order Status to set after PayPal payment has been completed. - Disable Funding Options
Choose the funding options which will not be accepted through PayPal. - Payment Type
Checkout - Will only require the customer to sign in, we will only be able to take a single payment. Vault - Allows us to save the customers PayPal account for later purchases and use with the Vault. View more information
PayPal Locale
- Locale
Choose the locale for the PayPal popup window. - Payment from Applicable Countries
Choose which countries to accept PayPal payments for.
Braintree Payments - Credit Card
Enable this section to take Credit Card payments through Braintree:

Card Processing
- Payment Action
Authorize - Will only auth the payment and store a token, the transaction will not be settled. Authorize & Capture - We will instantly settle the transaction within the checkout. - New Order Status
Select the status to set on order placed via this payment method. - Enable Vault/Saved Cards
The vault allows you to securely store the customers credit card on Braintree's servers. We're provided with a token which allows the customer to make future payments without having to enter any details again. - CVV Verification
Decide whether to verify the CVV against the card. - Credit Card Types
Choose the types of Credit Cards which can be used to pay through this processor. - Enable 3D Secure
The 3D Secure feature enables the shopper to enter a password to confirm their identity with the card issuer. If accepted they then complete their order, and when received by you, you have much more confidence that is genuine and real.
Kount + Braintree
This integration is no longer being offered to new Braintree customers.
- Kount Merchant ID
Braintree offers a direct integration with Kount, a partner for providing advanced fraud detection technology. To use this feature, you must be processing at least 2500 transactions per month, and you'll be subject to additional fees from Kount for their services. To get started, contact [email protected]. You can view more information here. - Kount Environment
Please specify which Kount environment you're using. - Kount API Key
Your Kount API authentication token. This can be located through the Kount AWC panel, via Admin > API Keys. Please ensure it has all permissions. - Skip Advanced Fraud Checks on Admin Orders
Prevents the transaction from being sent to Kount for evaluation as part of Advanced Fraud Tools checks, on orders placed through the admin only.
Braintree Payments - Apple Pay
Apple Pay will only be displayed as a payment option on supported devices.

Apple Pay Express
- Enable Express Checkout|
When enabled, Apple Pay can be used during Express Checkout. - Disable in Checkout
When set to Yes, the payment method will be hidden from the standard checkout process. This means Apple Pay will only be available as an express option. - Enable in Cart
Allow customers to complete their order via Apple Pay express, this will complete the entire quote. - Enable on Product Page
Allow customers to checkout directly from the product page using Apple Pay express. This will allow them to only checkout with the currently viewed item. - Link Guest Orders to Customers
If an existing customer makes an express order using their customer account email should we link the guest order to their customer account?
Payment Capture
- Payment Action
Authorize - Will only auth the payment and store a token, the transaction will not be settled. Authorize & Capture - We will instantly settle the transaction within the checkout. - Complete Order Status
Status for the Zoey Order after payment has been processed.
Braintree Payments - Google Pay
Google Pay will only be displayed as a payment option on supported devices regardless of it being enabled. Find out more here.

Google Pay has similar options to those explained above in the Apple Pay section.
