URL Rewrite - 301 Redirect Import

Upload a CSV file of redirects at Import & Export > 301 Redirects to send visitors and search engines from old URLs to new ones. To learn when imported redirects apply and which import method to choose, see 301 Redirects.

Before You Begin

• Make sure you can open Import & Export > 301 Redirects in the Control Panel.
• Make sure each old URL shows a 404 "Page Not Found" page. Imported redirects only apply to those URLs. If an old URL still loads a page, use URL Redirects instead.
• Choose your import method. Use Redirects System v1.0 unless your old URLs rely on query strings. See Choose an Import Method.
• If sitewide HTTPS is enabled, start both URLs in each row with https://. A redirect from an http:// URL won't trigger.

Step 1: Create Your CSV File

Redirects System v1.0

Create a CSV file with these three columns, in this order. Don't include a header row.

1. Old URL: the full URL to redirect from
2. New URL: the full URL to redirect to
3. Status Code: 301 (permanent) or 302 (temporary)

https://www.mysite.com/fun,https://www.mysite.com/fun-products,301
https://www.mysite.com/fun*,https://www.mysite.com/fun-products,301

The second example row shows an Old URL that ends in the wildcard character (* by default).

Query String Based Redirects

Create a CSV file with these five columns, in this order:

1. Old URL
2. Query String Name
3. Query String Value
4. New URL
5. Status Code: 301 or 302

Zoey uses the first matching row, so put the query string you want to take priority first. For an example, see How best match affects query string redirects.

Step 2: Upload the File

1. From the Control Panel, go to Import & Export > 301 Redirects.

   

2. If you've uploaded redirects before, click Download Redirects File, then add your new rows to that file so your existing redirects stay in place.

3. Upload your CSV:

   • For Redirects System v1.0, click Choose File and select your CSV.
   • For Query String Based Redirects, scroll down, expand the Query String Based Redirects section, click Choose File, and select your CSV.

   

4. Click Save Config.

5. Refresh your store by going to Advanced > Store Refresh.

6. Open one of your old URLs in a private browser window.

The old URL now takes you to the new URL.

Your imported redirects don't appear in Web Settings > URL Redirects. This is expected behavior. To review them, click Download Redirects File.
