DHL offers integrated services and tailored, customer-focused solutions to manage the international transport of letters, goods and information. DHL is available for international shipments, but is not used for shipments within the US.

🚧

Before You Begin

Before you configure your DHL shipping methods, you must first contact DHL to set up an account.

To set up DHL shipping methods, do the following:

  1. In your Control Panel, go to Set-up > Shipping. If DHL is not shown, click on Add Shipping Method, choose the DHL box, and click Click the Add Shipping Methods bar that appears at the bottom of your page.

  2. Click on Set-Up next to the DHL section to view your configuration settings.

  3. Change Enabled for Checkout to Yes

  4. Gateway URL is already configured for you and does not need to be changed unless otherwise instructed by DHL.

  5. In the Title Field, enter a name that will be used to refer to this shipping method during checkout (example: DHL).

  6. Use the credentials provided by DHL to complete the following fields:

  • Access ID
  • Password
  • Account Number
  1. In the Content Type list, select the option that best describes the type of package you ship:
  • Documents
  • Non-Documents

Optional Handling Fee

The handling fee is optional and appears as an additional charge that is added to the DHL shipping cost.

  1. In the Calculate Handling Fee list, select the method you want to use to calculate handling fees.
  • Fixed: Certain amount per order regardless of size
  • Percent: Percentage of the order total price
  1. In the Handling Applied list, select how you want the handling fees applied:
  • Per Order: Charged once regardless of how many packages are sent for the order to be completed
  • Per Package: Charged based on how many packages will be used
  1. In the Handling Fee field, enter either a fixed amount or percentage, depending on which you selected in the Calculate Handling Fee field. These values should be a number, no currency ($) or percentage (%) symbols

Weight, Size, Time, and Place

  1. Set the Weight Unit of the package to one of the following:
  • Pounds
  • Kilograms
For accurate calculations, this must be the same that you use in your store and product listings.

📘

Packages over 70kg

For packages that exceed 70kg, you can allow the total order weight to be broken up to ensure an accurate calculation of shipping charges. To permit this, set Divide Order Weight to Yes. If your packages will be less than this, chose No.

  1. Set the Size of the package to one of the following:
  • Regular
  • Specific

For Specific, enter the Height, Depth, and Width of the package.

🚧

To be sure you are getting the most accurate prices, check that you have the correct weights entered for the products as well as your Shipping Origin.

  1. In the Allowed Methods list, select each shipment method that you support. To select more than one, hold down the Control Key on your PC (Command on a Mac) and click on the additional options.

  2. Enter the Ready Time in hours after submission that it takes for a package to be ready to ship.
Edit the Displayed Error Message as needed. This message appears when a selected method is unavailable.

  3. In the Free Method list, select the shipping method you use for free shipping. Set to None if you do not plan to use Free shipping with DHL.
(This is similar to Free Shipping, but appears in the DHL section so customers will know which method is used for their order).

  4. In the Free Shipping with Minimum Order Amount field, select:

  • Enable: If you’re offering Free Shipping with Minimum Order, and then enter the Minimum Order Amount for Free Shipping
  • Disable: Does not apply free DHL shipping to any orders. Leave the Minimum Order Amount for Free Shipping field blank.
  1. Set Ship to Applicable Countries to one of the following:
  • All Allowed Countries
  • Specific Countries

To log errors while testing, set Debug to Yes

In the Sort Order field, type a numeric value to determine the sequence in which DHL appears when listed with other shipping methods during checkout.

When complete click the Save button to save your changes.
